A person is spray painting a wall blue in a well-lit room. They are wearing a hooded sweatshirt and protective gear, with a paint sprayer in hand. A ladder and tarp are visible on the floor.

How Much Does Interior Painting Cost?

It’s one of the first questions we get.

And the honest answer is:

It depends.

Not because we’re trying to be vague. Because two rooms that look identical in photos can require completely different amounts of work.

A freshly painted guest bedroom is very different from a living room with damaged drywall, peeling caulk, stained ceilings, and furniture packed wall-to-wall.

That’s why we don’t believe in flat-rate pricing or guessing over the phone.

What Actually Affects the Price?

The biggest factors are usually:

  • What surfaces are being painted
  • How much preparation is needed
  • Ceiling height and accessibility
  • The condition of the existing paint
  • Furniture and room contents
  • Any repairs or specialty work

Most of the cost isn’t the paint.

It’s the labor required to prepare surfaces properly and deliver a finish that will still look good years from now.

Why We Don’t Believe in “One Size Fits All” Pricing

You’ll find painters who advertise prices per room.

The problem is that not all rooms are created equal.

One bedroom might take half a day.

Another might take two full days because of repairs, built-ins, crown molding, damaged walls, or difficult access.

We price based on the actual work involved so you’re paying for your project—not somebody else’s.

What’s Included?

Every project includes the things that should be included.

Protecting floors and furnishings.

Masking and covering surfaces.

Light patching.

Basic sanding.

Caulking where needed.

Professional cleanup when we’re finished.

If a project requires major drywall repair, water damage restoration, wallpaper removal, or specialty finishes, we’ll discuss that separately before work begins.

No surprises.

No mystery charges.

No awkward conversations halfway through the project.

What About Repairs?

Small repairs are part of painting.

Large repairs are construction work.

There’s a difference.

We’ll always point out anything that falls outside the normal scope of painting and explain your options before moving forward.

Will I Get a Written Estimate?

Absolutely.

Every estimate includes a clear scope of work, recommended products, project details, and pricing.

If you have questions, we’ll walk through everything with you.

We’d rather spend a few extra minutes explaining the estimate than leave you wondering what you’re paying for.

The Bottom Line

A painting estimate shouldn’t feel complicated.

Our goal is simple:

Explain the work.

Explain the price.

Deliver the results.

That’s it.

If you’re planning an interior painting project in Chicago, we’d be happy to take a look and provide a clear, detailed estimate with no pressure and no surprises.
